msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7956248/Giants,-'Skins-to-play-in-Thursday-season-opener The NFL's Thursday night season opener will match the Super Bowl-champion New York Giants and the Washington Redskins, with the game possibly starting an hour-and-a-half earlier to avoid clashing with the Republican National Convention. The game is now scheduled for 8:30 p.m. EDT on Sept. 4 — the concluding night of the Republican convention — and will be televised by NBC. League spokesman Greg Aiello said Wednesday that the NFL is talking with the network about changing the game's starting time to 7 p.m. The Super Bowl winner traditionally hosts the game. The Redskins' participation was confirmed by a person familiar with the NFL schedule who spoke on condition of anonymity because the league has not announced it. The highlight games of the NFL's first weekend will be announced Monday during league meetings in Palm Beach, Fla. The rest of the schedule will be announced later next month.

Redskins beat the Giants W15 last season and should have beat them in NY W3. I think the Redskins were up 17-3 at the half and gave the game away.
That game made the Giants season. Had they lost, the Redskins would have been 3-0 and the Giants 0-3. Instead, the Giants won and then ran of 5 more in a row.
I was sick...

Wow, another NFC East matchup in prime time.....
Hey NFL, the rest of us don't give a shit about the NFC East. You don't have to play every single one of their divisional games on national TV.....

If I even watch it, the only reason will be because it's the first game of the year and I'm starving for football. But I might just wait for the good football on the weekend.

The NFC Beast boasts primetime rivalries, and their games are typically hard fought until the very end. In all: NFC Beast games make for good ratings.

They only get good ratings because the teams are in such big cities: Philadelphia, Washington, New York, and Dallas. All huge cities. I doubt anybody outsides watches.

Did it have the highest winning percentage ever? 42-22 .656 winning percentage
Hell, even the Texans were 7-3 against teams from conferences outside the AFC South. That should say something right there.
