Key Addition:
All of their draft picks.
The Draft Picks
FB Alex Lewis IV
LB Matt Lynch
FS Shane Carter
SS Joe Gibbs
WR Scott Lynch
LB Matthew McIntyre
Key Loss:
LB Avery Day - Losing A-Day will definently hurt the defense. From the beginning, when the Cougars were the Clowns, A-Day was the leader of the linebacker.
Other Losses:
WR Chris Jones
WR Felix Hughes
The Skinny
The Cougars showed flashes of greatness last year, but were inconsistent, and ended up 5-7, and out of the Playoffs. Now, with the loss of Avery Day, and the possible drop off of Eugene Johnson, the Cougars could be in big time trouble this year. The offense looks alright, with QB Cedric Williamson coming off a decent year. HB Marion Barbarian, who didn't fumble once all last season, should be a lot better this year. The biggest question, however, lies in the passing game. The top 3 receiving threats are WRs Alex Lewis III, the grandson of the great Alex Lewis, rookie Scott Lynch, and TE Nelson Rosario, who was inactive last season. The Cougars seem to have screw themselves over after trading Keith Finnegan for Rosario. While both were mostly inactive during the season, Finnegan was the more active of the 2 rivals. With 2 unproven WRs and a semi-active TE, will Williamson go back to the way he played his first season?
On defense, its even worse. The defense features 3 rookies who are starting, LB Matt Lynch, FS Shane Carter, and SS Joe Gibbs. LB Tyler Logan comes back to the team after his contract expired, and he will finish his career here. As stated before, Eugene Johnson will drop off a little bit, so David Sutton might have to pick up the slack. Sutton isn't very active anymore, so that may be a problem. This defense is in even worse shape than the offense.
Projected Record: 2-10, Last place in the division
I just can't see this team going anywhere this year, as they go back into rebuilding mode.
