Noob here. Trying to figure out how to make the best possible player I can. Well, at least I can go back and look at past players and where they have come from and where they are at now. And I can look at current players and see where they are going.
Toughest player to make? I doubt anyone will argue it is the running back position. QBs get their 3 atts of awareness, pass accuracy and throwing power up, and they gain a 99 overall rating. Every defender needs 99 speed, then build up tackle and aware and there are and have been numerous players who have reached that 99 overall plateau. WR a little tough, but still a few 99s.
The only player never going to make a 99 in this league are the offensive ballcarriers. The FB can do it with 99 catch and run block, but there's no glory in staying the FB. The running back has yet to get that elusive 99 overall RB.
I'm comparing the three waves of player out here. The long-time vet Buster Move, as he has the highest current overall and all S1 veterans have retired. The aggressive Tyler Barabash, who may be the first player to reach that elusive 99. And the next wave of S6 backs, Edgerrin Jones-Drew, Marion Barbarian and yours truly Flint Marko.
Buster Move - Rolling Thunder
Speed: 99
Strength: 41
Awareness: 63
Agility: 99
Acceleration: 99
Catching: 24
Carrying: 99
Jumping: 20
Break Tackle:99
Tackle: 20
99 in 5 atts, wow. But can a RB outrun his protection with that 99 accel? And can he catch a ball out in the flat?
Tyler Barabash - Playboys
Speed: 99
Strength: 30
Awareness: 70
Agility: 80
Acceleration: 99
Catching: 41
Carrying: 70
Jumping: 20
Break Tackle: 90
Tackle: 20
In his third season, 99 at 2 attributes, again I may have to question the accel. Or maybe not. But already great in break tackle and good in carry. Not a fumbler and can catch a little as well.
Now the rookies
Marion Barbarian - Cougars
Speed: 96
Strength: 30
Awareness: 20
Agility: 45
Acceleration: 53
Catching: 20
Carrying: 20
Jumping: 20
Break Tackle: 48
Tackle: 20
Edgerrin Jones-Drew - Bunnies
Speed: 94
Strength: 20
Awareness: 20
Agility: 42
Acceleration: 83
Catching: 20
Carrying: 20
Jumping: 20
Break Tackle: 46
Tackle: 20
Flint Marko - Stars
Speed: 98
Strength: 20
Awareness: 86
Agility: 49
Acceleration: 47
Catching: 50
Carrying: 20
Jumping: 40
Break Tackle: 43
Tackle: 40
Throw Power: 20
Throw Accuracy: 20
Pass Block: 20
Run Block: 30
Speed is about the same with the 3 rookie backs being within ten points of each other. Same is true for break tackle and agility. Marko is at FB1 gainging PPs there, but also has some time in at TE2 and WR3. Barbarian and EJD will get those simming points. Should be an interesting sophomore season for the three of them. Just saying don't count me out.
Only 3 games played, but...
Total yards for the FBs so far:
Andrew Helms - Firebirds - 35 yards - 8 touches
Brett Burger - Cougars - 33 yards - 11 touches
Brett Witten - Playboys - 33 yards - 10 touches
Flint Marko - Stars - 71 yards - 9 touches
Vince Hall and Zach Dorow - Rolling Thunder - 23 yards - 7 touches
D. Martinez - Bunnies - 28 yards - 8 touches
Total yards for HBs:
Marion Barbarian - Cougars - 103 yards - 51 touches
Edgerrin Jones-Drew - Bunnies - 79 yards - 47 touches
And going back to the overalls comparison:
using that good old overall generator:
madden.ulmb.com/ovrgen.php
Brabarian - 21
Jones-Drew - 22
Marko - TE - 34 (where I get my overall as this is where my TT comes from)
Marko - FB - 28 (if I were placed due to depth chart)
Marko - HB - 37 (if I were to compare to the other rookies)
Bragging, maybe a little. Boasting, no. Just saying, remember the Sandman when voting comes around on FB of the Year, and considering Rookie of the Year, and watch out in a year or 2, when I get my RB chance when my senior Victor Cross is ready to relinquish the reins to me.
