Philadelphia, PA
The preseason has come to an end and there are some teams that will be looking to make some changes and others that are pretty set for the start of the season. Our Firebirds appear to be part of the latter group. They had a great preseason with games against the Tampa Bay Rolling Thunder and the Carolina Cougars.
Game #1 against the Tampa Bay Rolling Thunder
Final Score: 26-17 Firebirds
Cause for Celebration:[/u] The Firebirds decided to go with their young secondary for this first game. And they responded exactly as the management could have hoped. The game was out of hand, but the Rolling Thunder made it closer as they scored the final 14 pts of the game in order to bring it back to a respectable score.
Cause for Concern:[/u] There wasn't much that went wrong with this game. The one glaring thing is the run that was allowed in the fourth quarter. The team wasn't able to finish off the run away victory and only ended up winning by 9.
Game #2 against the Carolina Cougars
Final Score: 30-10 Firebirds
Cause for Celebration:[/u] The squad was able to put this team away in the fourth quarter. Although the Firebirds held the lead the entire game, it wasn't really comfortable until the 4th quarter. Camp got his chance to play in the starting lineup for this second game and proved why he's still a force to be reckoned with. Appleby continued to impress with his two preseason performances.
Cause for Concern:[/u] The completion percentage for the Cougars was at 60%, although this will happen from time to time when teams settle for short patterns. This team is primed for the regular season to start, and they will be able to prove they are the best team in the northern division.
