Connecticut Hurricanes[/u]
This was a tough choice between the S3 upset of the Rastas or the S4 upset of the Mustangs. I chose the Mustangs game because there a couple plays that pretty much decided it.
The Setting: The Hurricanes came into this game with some talent on defense, but almost no activity whatsoever. Their record showed it at 2-9. However, the ‘Canes had put up a big fight in almost all of their games, losing to the champion Playboys by 7 and getting edged by the Pythons 13-10. The Mustangs, their opponent for Week 12, won the Pasta Bowl in S3 with an unremarkable team, and looked to do it again in S4. Despite a pretty run-of-the mill team, the Mustangs stood at 5-6 and in position for the final playoff spot in the South. To make it, all they needed were either for the Stars to lose to the powerful Pythons or have themselves beat the lowly ‘Canes. Easy, right?
Sure looked that way when the Pythons got a long TD pass to Matty Smith to put them up 28-24 with 0:29 left.
It's over.
But, the Stars miraculously drove down the field for a touchdown, making the Mustangs vs. Canes matchup decide who got the last playoff spot.
The Game: The Mustangs came out gunning against the underdog ‘Canes. Tyler Moss caught a 49-yard TD from David Night, then Jared Brazell caught another touchdown. Only a goal line interception prevented the Canes from going down 21-0. However, the Mustangs’ 14-0 lead looked unbeatable against the Hurricanes’ questionable offense.
After a ‘Canes FG, the Mustangs got the ball back on an interception by Iamgonna Fudgeyouup at the Canes 36. The ‘Stangs offense didn’t look like it would let up, but the Hurricanes defense started stepping up.
The Play(s):
1:10 Night incomplete to Moss deep down the sideline. Thrown OB.
2:10 Night throws to Fable in the flat.....
1:10:23 Night complete to Moss crossing the middle. Gain of 13. Sady tackle.
1:10:36...Night incomplete to Jones.
2:10 Night complete to Alexander down the middle. Gain of 14. Sady tackle. TO Mustangs.
1:10:50....Night complete to Brazell down the sideline. Gain of 24. Dingle tackle. TO Mustangs.
1:10:26....Alexander up the middle for 6. Donny tackle....
2:4 Night throws to Brazell....
Brazell throws his helmet down in disgust as he heads back to the bench,
The Implications: The ‘Canes hold on to win a thriller 31-28, knocking the Mustangs out of the playoffs, Despite the franchise’s struggles, the Hurricanes end on a good note, as both teams are contracted due to inactivity after the season. The last game of both franchises was a big game, and it was one of the most exciting in FSJ history.

This one has had the feel of floodgates about to open for the last few possessions. The Canes can't get anything going, and the Stangs have been picking up yards in chunks. After a ‘Canes FG, the Mustangs got the ball back on an interception by Iamgonna Fudgeyouup at the Canes 36. The ‘Stangs offense didn’t look like it would let up, but the Hurricanes defense started stepping up.
