Wie withdraws from Ginn Tribute after 16 holes Associated Press
Updated: May 31, 2007, 2:02 PM ET Comment Email Print MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. -- Hawaii's Michelle Wie withdrew from the Ginn Tribute on Thursday after shooting 14 over par through 16 holes, aggravating a wrist injury that sidelined her since January.
After Wie bogeyed the par-4 seventh, the 17-year-old star from Hawaii told an LPGA tour official: "We're not going to play anymore."
Wie wore bandages on her wrists during the round and said her withdraw was because she "tweaked" the injury and not because of an LPGA rule that bans nontour members for the year if they shoot 88 or higher. Wie was two bogeys from that scenario when she stopped.

Michelle Wie was 14-over par before withdrawing from the Ginn Tribute Thursday.
"I had issues with my wrist," she said. "Shooting 88 is not what I think about."
Wie's round included a 10 on the par-5 third hole, when her first drive hit a parked car and rolled down a roadway drain. "It was actually quite funny," she said. "I was going to crawl down the drain to show people it was in play. But I couldn't fit."

This is why I dont like this girl.. she's not that good.. never has been. I never bought into the hype and now everyone can see why. What a quitter and minipulator of the rules. Go back to putt-putt!

I wish she would withdraw from golf.
Seriously though, she's good and could be GREAT on the LPGA. But she's played in too many mens tournaments and has it in her head that shes good enough to compete with those guys. She simply isnt and never will be.

when it comes to sport men>women it science and you dont mess with science I think it's different when it comes to sports like Tennis and Golf. I think Annika Sorenstam could take down a few PGA golfers.. but she's smart and is sticking to what she knows. I think a man has actually lost to a woman in Tennis in a professional game.. I think Billie Jean King was the woman.. not sure of the male.

"17-year-old star" - bull
Annika is (or was, she's getting older) good enough to beat quite a few men and probably make some cuts, but I think she decided that she didn't need to beat the men like Wie feels she needs to.

You just can't stop that #3 - Men wouldn't look good in tennis skirts.

I couldn't hate golf more if Deion Sanders was on the tour, but I found this thread entertaining. Just the idea that a golfer could have an injury that keeps them down for months... high comedy.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A row between the world's two best known women golfers is raising the temperature for this week's LPGA Championship, with Annika Sorenstam saying Michelle Wie lacked class in dealing with a wrist injury.
Former world number one Sorenstam took issue with a decision by teenager Wie to withdraw from a tournament last week when she was 14 over par, citing a wrist injury, only to practice two days later.
"I just feel there's a little bit of a lack of respect and class just to leave a tournament like that and then come out and practice here," Sorenstam told a news conference.
