It looks like the Lakers won this one. You never know, though, because you don't know who the two picks are gonna be.
It's probably the right move for both teams. The Grizzlies weren't going anywhere with Gasol and this way they at least have a chance to turn things around. The Lakers on the other hand, are now contenders.
I saw the trade and at first was scared we had traded Odom. I'm kinda amazed we were able to get somebody like this without giving up Odom, Bynum, or Kobe.
Just so you guys know, that other guy was Javaris Crittenton and he was a first round pick this year. He could turn out to be pretty good.

Memphis has a history of pissing away 1st rd picks.. They have a history of pissing away seasons with or without Gasol. At least they will have a shot to do something over the next few years with this trade. They just dumped a big Gasol contract and Brown's near 10M contract will expire at the end of the season. They will have the money to go after a good free agent this offseason. Plus they will have hope with the 3 first rounders.

"The brilliant trade the Lakers made today, in which they traded a sack of leftovers to Memphis for the Spanish power forward, is a far better move than anything they could have done with Jason Kidd and puts the finishing touches on a seemingly overnight transformation from one-man team into title-contending juggernaut."

2007 Mike Conley, Jr (unkown) 2005 Hakim Warrick (bust) 2003 Kendrick Perkins (bust) 2003 Marcus Banks (bust) 2002 Drew Gooden (moderately good role player... outside of Memphis!) 2001 Shane Battier (great defender.. but not a game changer) 2001 Pau Gasol (only decent 1st rd pick so far) 2000 Stromile Swift (bust) 1999 Steve Francis (didn't stay with Memphis long..) 1998 Mike Bibby (became a star with Sac) 1997 Antonio Daniels (bust)
The list goes on with studs like (Eielson's boytoy) Bryant Reeves and Roy Rogers who didnt do much. This franchise seems to draft players with potential, but they end up going elsewhere and having better careers. They haven't had a decent 1st rd pick since 2001. Maybe they'll hit on one of the three 1st rd'ers they have coming.. ?

What happened to Swift? I remember using Memphis in NBA live and he was the slowest person ever.

I wouldnt call Swift a bust. Well idk where he got picked actually but he is a very solid player.
And he acxtually just got traded as well to the Nets for Jason Collison

Maybe they'll hit on one of the three 1st rd'ers they have coming.. ? Yes. All they need is to hit on one and they can come out better than they were. Plus, they improved their chances in the Michael Beasley sweepstakes.
